STUDENT ADVISEMENT

All students considering a major in economics should meet with an economics faculty member for advice regarding opportunities in economics, feasibility of pursuing this concentration and sequencing of courses. (Many courses have prerequisites.)

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Economics majors secure employment with financial, industrial and governmental institutions.  Recent graduates have obtained positions at securities firms, banks, insurance companies, the Federal Reserve System, and major industrial companies.  Several graduates have also launched successful consulting careers while others have gone on to teach at the college level.  Career development is an integral function of the advising process of the Department of Economics.
